Kelly Slater, one of the greatest surfers of all time is often quoted as saying, “The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun.”
This couldn’t be more true, and we know that one of the main reasons why our rookie surfers are having the time of their lives is because they know they are in safe hands. Besides the incredible stoke of riding a wave, the feeling of being immersed in the ocean offers a sense of indescribable freedom and connection to nature. But that’s just it, the first rule of Mother Nature, as beautiful and wonderous as she is, is that she should be taken seriously.
Like most things exhilarating, the thrill of surfing will take you outside of your comfort zone and while you are having more fun than you could probably imagine, we are taking your safety, and your overall experience, very seriously.
Inside the vast mystery of the ocean, of course, you will be within the reach, and under the watchful eye of one of our expert coaches. However, the dedication to your safe, fun experience, starts behind the scenes long before you actually set your feet into the salt water.
Medical Safety
Firstly, all our coaches are first-aid certified. Besides that, in the event of any kind of medical emergency, big or small, you can be assured that there is a carefully thought-out plan in place.

We know that your overall enjoyment (and indeed, safety) is directly related to the conditions of the ocean. Days in advance of your surf trip, you will find us poring over forecast apps and using our local knowledge to make sure that you have the most appropriate and safe conditions for your surfing experience.

A big part of surfing stoke and culture is the camaraderie that happens on the way to the waves, and if you’re a visitor to the beautiful city of Cape Town, you have the added bonus of enjoying the local knowledge of our surf coaches who are dialled into all that the city has to offer. But besides catching on to our stoke and good chats, we take your ride to the beach very seriously too. Not only are our cool-looking surf vans comfortable and clean, but they are regularly maintained and inspected for your safety on the road.

Of course, all of these efforts would be pretty useless if you didn’t have quality equipment that is comfortable and won’t let you down in the water. At Stoked, we’re proud to say that our boards, wetsuits and leashes are all of a high standard and are regularly checked to make sure they are in excellent condition.

They are the funniest and most professional group of people, we always had an absolute 10/10 experience surfing with them.
